Pumpkin Spice Margarita


Margaritas are synonymous with hot summer days, but this deliciously spiced, subtly sweet drink is perfect for chilly fall and winter nights. Created by the masters of tequila infusions at TQLA, a Southwestern kitchen and tequila bar located in Mesa, Arizona and Houston, Texas, the Pumpkin Spice Margarita is a must for holiday parties, casual dinners, cozy nights at home, and pretty much any other time a craving strikes for boozy, pumpkin-y bliss.


1½ ounces pumpkin-infused Tequila Reposado*

1½ ounces pumpkin puree**

2 ounces sweet and sour mix

½ ounce triple sec or orange liqueur

1 part ground cinnamon and 3 parts sugar for glass rim


Rim glass with ground cinnamon and sugar mixture. Mix infused Tequila Reposado, pumpkin puree, sweet and sour, and triple sec or orange liqueur together. Pour into cinnamon- and sugar-rimmed glass.


*Infused Tequila Reposado:

Makes enough for 20 cocktails

Peel and core one whole organic baking pumpkin. Cut it into medium-size chunks, sprinkle brown sugar on pumpkin, and bake for 30 minutes at 250 degrees.

Place pumpkin, two cinnamon sticks, ½ ounce of whole cardamom, ½ ounce of whole cloves, and 1 bottle of tequila in an infusion jar for 5 days.

**Homemade Pumpkin Puree:

Puree pumpkin in a blender. In a pot on the stove, mix pumpkin with a generous sprinkle of nutmeg, cinnamon, brown sugar, regular sugar, and ginger slices and simmer for 3 hours.
